Status quo or something like that. Having rented for the past four years, however, I am fond of the flexibility and affordability. This book made me feel better about renting, even though things are not quite the same in Australia. We're still getting screwed by a bad system over here, too. I definitely think that renting is easier and ownership is not something to rush into. For some renting is ideal and for others owning may be a better fit. I live in California where rent and property can be very high, but it's the price we pay for the Cali way of life, lol! I actually rent and own. I think it ultimately comes down to what kind of life to you plan on living. do you want a family in the future? do you plan on getting married? or is staying single what you enjoy? do you want to live in NYC or somewhere less urban? these things all matter. with all things, there are pros and cons to both sides. I would like to own my own property in the future but probably not in NYC. there are other places with much more space at much more reasonable prices. I live with my parents who own their home. I feel the same way, unless you have a surplus of cash and you can afford a home, key word AFFORD lol a home then go ahead and buy. But like you, I like the flexibility of having an apartment without the responsibilities that home owners have. There are benefits and beautiful reasons on either side of the street with this one, it all depends on what kind of future you plan on having... key words FUTURE & PLAN! :) Nice Arie!
